RE: New rattle - 74 Spider

Greg,
My new 85 Spider had the same rattle. I solved it by inserting a 
rubber washer under the shift lever to put slight tension on the 3
spherical plates that cover the top of the shift tower. There may
have been a rubber washer there originally but 18 years may have
disintegrated it.
