Glenn, the cigarette lighter is a seperate problem. But, you probably need to
quit smoking anyhow :-).
I would bet you have a battery with a dead cell.
Since it starts with a jump, the starter is OK.
Since it starts after driving it, the charging system is working.
So, all that is left is the battery or a short. Disconnect a battery terminal
and see if the problem goes away. If it does, you've got a short. If it
doesn't, visit your nearest battery store.
