Spider(78?) Starter Problem.
A friend of mine who does not have email needs a bit of help with a Spider.
He believes the car is a '78 and may be a Veloce. The car has a SPICA
system.
His problem is that when the car is cold(not sure about weather - he just
says "cold"), the starter will usually continue to run. To get it to stop
he sometimes has to disconnect the battery. After trying it 2 or 3 times,
the starter starts and stops normally. He is having a tough time getting a
proper wiring diagram for the car, so tracing this is difficult.
So far he's only been able to rule out the ignition switch. There are some
strange connections between the starter solenoid, a solenoid on the
SPICA(cold start - it's connected directly to the starter solenoid and
another relay), a vacuum switch near the front, and this strange relay on
the right wheel well.
Does anyone have any clue what could be the problem?? A few of the wires
look like they've been messed with in the past, so he's looking for a
diagram and has bought several books.
Thanks!
Jason.
