Re: Spare Wheel Substitute

Hi Gil:

I don't know if Ford ever used them, but if they did, a space-saver spare from any 4-bolt Mustang, LTD, T-Bird, Mercury Capri, Cougar or Marquis (all thru the mid-80's) should fit the bill just fine. That's actually a pretty good idea you had, and wouldn't mind having two for myself. A trick I used to do with my BMW's was flip the full-size spare upside-down in the trunk, giving me all that extra space inside the wheel for storage. That won't work with OEM 105/115 wheels, as they've got too much positive offset. Happy hunting.

Subject: Spare Wheel Substitute

My recently acquired '85 Spider needs a spare wheel and I would like
to use an inflatable space-saving spare or a fully inflated space-
saver. I was hoping to shop at my local auto scrap yard for one but
don't know what car model, year, etc., that would fit on my Spider.
Does anyone have this information?
