Milano muffler blues, rubbing against driveshaft

I installed a new Ansa muffler in my Milano today. What should have been a 
simple job wound up being totally annoying and taking more than 2 hours. 
After much cursing and swearing the muffler pipe is still rubbing against 
the halfshaft bolts. I tried trimming down the verticle rubber hanger that 
the middle of the muffler pipe bolts to, I even unbolted this hangar and 
titled it away from the tranny but still it made no difference.

Do you guys have any suggestions on how to get this so it doesn't rub?

My OEM muffler was always a super close fit to next to these halfshaft bolts 
and would sometimes rub if not mounted properly. Tomorrow I'm going to 
reinstall my OEM muffler unless someone has some idea of what can be done 
with this.
