Richard Bies has it exactly right. And that explains why a bad connection
CAN cause a fuse to blow. If the series resistance is enough to cause the
motor to start up too slowly or to stall (because of INCREASED mechanical
load at lower speed - Think of trying to break loose stuck blades), the
current can actually increase to a higher value (and dwell there longer)
than when the motor is running normally.
