Actually I have, or rather my mother did and related
it to me.  

Someone called in looking for a good older car to
restore, and they actually recommended an Alfa because
of their engineering qualities.  Unfortunately I
didn't hear all of it, and I'm sure there were snipes
in there, but I think they were genuinely serious.  I
know one of them has owned a Fiat at some point.
