Re: Cleaning very dirty wheels
Hi Don:
You might try some hand cleaner, you know, like GoJo, Goop, etc. Get a big
tub and just slather it all over and let it soak for several hours. Then a
scrub brush, to work it around, with a paint brush to get in all the
crevices. Get the plain cleaner though, not the type with pumice, and if
you can find the type with orange oil included, all the better. This
method worked very well on a set of Turbina's I had, and I used it on the
inner fenders (engine bay)on my '74 Spider, too. The hand cleaner won't
damage the paint, but if left long enough, it works on just about anything
else. A rinse at the self-service car wash would be better than a garden
hose, too.

Subject: Cleaning very dirty wheels
'Looking for ideas to clean the very, very dirty wheels on my 91 L. The
car sat up for several months and the brake/road crude on the wheels
laughs at the usual wheel cleaner stuff. Anyone have a homemade
remedy? Is there a power tool attachment that can be used to scrub out
this stuff without damage to the wheel?
Thanks,
Don
