Re: Dynamat (& ABS Units)

What's the connection between deadening vibration, insulation and your
ABS unit? My ABS light has been coming on and I am investigating solutions.
Sorry for the delay...
Last summer I installed CSC headers in my Verde. They work great, but
give off tons of heat under the hood. After a while my ABS pump would
get hot enough that it would take longer and longer to re-pressurize the
reservoir... eventually it would start running constantly.
The ABS pump was rather new, and the reservoir was very new. Both
worked fine before I installed the headers, even on the hotest days, so
I had a good idea of what the problem was.
To insulate the pump and reservoir, I used what I had on hand... and
that was a roll of Frost King Duct Insulation... the stuff I was using
for sound deadening. I wrapped a few layers around both items, and
secured the insulation with a few zip ties.
The added insulation cured the ABS problems completely. Although I
still plan to have the headers Jet-Hot coated this spring to help keep
the engine bay temp down. I'm hoping it will help the AC performance
too, as it suffered when I installed the headers.
