Alfa Romeo/Graduate homage.
Those of you who have seen Albert Brooks' MOTHER please excuse me. I
saw it for the first time night. I think Albert Brooks is terrific.
For those who have not seen it .......
The Brooks character decides that he must rush home to his mother in
order to rid himself of the proverbial demons. And so there is this
terrific series of scenes wherein from a bird's eye view we see
Brooks doing the 400 non stop miles to mom......... including
crossing the bridge. These scenes look oh SO familiar.
Aha. Yes, then the apres Simon and Garfunkle singing begins :
"Here's to you Mrs. Henderson ..........." And, yes, he is driving
an Alfa Spider. Similar to "The Graduate" the character never moves
the shift lever once despite the idea of frantic haste. Very cool.

CHICAGO AUTO SHOW : What a disappointment; what did you think?
No Alfas. Lotus? Yes, but only the Elise.
Most interesting - and perhaps you can explain this to me - was
another category of the missing. Clearly, some agency was hired to
hire woman in black suits, for the most part, in order to hawk the
cars. All of them were on their way to being attractive but never
would quite make it. All had longish hair - mostly blond. That's
beside the point however. What is the point is that they were all
missing asses. Not one of these women had rear ends - a kind of
Khamm effect. What's that about?
Oh, I actually saw a Cadillac that I thought was attractive; what's that about?
Forza,
David
