RE: Dynamat
I had a HORRIBLE experience with the Brownbread product sold to me by
B-Quiet. The product itself was horrible, the customer service was
horrible, the entire experience was horrible. The vendor claimed that
the product was just like Dynamat but at 1/3 the price. As it turned
out, it was useless. It would not adhere to any surface regardless of
what I did. They claimed it was supposed to adhere to vertical or even
inverted (for instance, a roof panel) surfaces but I couldn't even get
it to stick to horizontal surfaces. I ended up having to return it
(postage paid by me) to Canada in order to get a refund (and it's very
heavy of course).
I would not wish the experience I had with B-Quiet on ANYONE.
In the end I used Dynamat, which I should have used before. No, it's
not cheap, but it works.
As far as I'm concerned, unless you're building a race car there is a
certain amount of engine noise that you want engineered in to an
automobile. I like hearing an engine, but I want the body and rest of
the car structurally sound, not resonant, and not noisy.
When I restored my CS I used Dynamat wherever I could put it and in my
opinion it's one of the things which makes the car so pleasant to drive.
