I didn't have to do any body work to the front end of my Milano (yet.) But if that seam is like the rocker panel seams, you might have nothing to worry about. The seam is not continuously welded, but spot welded every inch or so. Also the edges of those seams tend to splay a bit, because the weld doesn't go the whole way to the edge. That's the reason for all the seam sealer.
