Re: Engine design
<<2) A bad OHC design is always worse than a decent OHV design. The mention
of the specific output of the Corvette is interesting- BTW, the ACTUAL
number is 71hp/l- that engine makes 405hp. For engines larger than 5.0l,
and made in quantities of real mass production, anything over 65 is quite
good. Our 4.6l OHC is a piece of junk. A $1B mistake. Should have kept
the 5.0/5.7 engine and improved it. The best the 4.6 4v can do right now
is 69hp/l. Tell me that's better than that ancient 5.7L engine from GM???>>
Heck look at my Honda...82.5 Hp/L (1.6 L w/ 132 HP) in a 97 Civic EX coupe

Hmmm. I think American car manufactures will ALWAYS be several years behind
in engine design. If they come up with a good setup, it usually has a
European or Japanese influence. But unfortunately, they don't run with the
fun. Look at the Syclone, Typhoon, and Buick Grand National. Finally started
to move with technology, and they drop it when they were getting good. Those
were the ONLY G.M. products that did anything for me. As for the Corvette,
the car doesn't really appeal to me. Actually, Its not the car's fault. Its
just the way Non-Corvette owners go gaga over them. (Maybe its just that I
can't afford one. LOL)
I love the way my Alfa and Lancia sound, perform, (overall) and the rarity of
them. Then again, I like odd ball cars.
I remember a abuddy of mine telling me of a guy that brought a slightly
modified Yugo to an AutoCross. The Corvette owners were laughing at him when
he drove in....But they were crying when he left...WITH 1st PLACE!!!
Bwaahhahhahaha!!!!
