If the wiring is stock and the relay of the original type (has <two> #87
contacts [an 87b]) the second fan is controlled through that relay in
addition to the thermo switch.  That relay is activated by the AC switch.
Why many plastic covers are blistered over the #3 fuse.

I know many think the fan should run anytime the AC is on; with the same
relay otherwise usually used, the fan does run more -- and that's why the
cover gets blistered (all the current for two fans runs through that #3,
overheating it, and blistering the cover -- not <quite> enough to blow the
fuse.
