i have an extremely heavy duty oil filter wrench i got from sears maybe 20
years ago, with a pivot in the handle so the handle can be cocked slightly
sideways. i used to jack the car up a little and run the wrench up between
the engine and the rail.

getting the filter in and out of the space is annoying, removing the air
filter box may make it a little easier.
