Exploding fans

This is just a theory of mine and may be wrong but here goes:

When I installed the new fan on Project Alfa I noticed it was not
"finished". It had lots of rough, sharp casting and mold lines on the blade
edges and across the hub. I spent a couple of hours removing these with some
emery paper. My theory is that it is possible these sharp edges may create
stress points and eventually can cause cracks to form.

Also, my Spider has never had a radiator shroud and has never done anything
that would indicate it needs one. This includes some long runs across the
desert in the summer as well as being caught in Bay Area traffic.

Anyway, some points to consider.
