Leaves/dust in heater

Hi there again,

my 75 1800IE smells badly when I switch the heater on. The more
I let the air flow, the worst the smell gets. It's kinda like a
"burning" smell. If I switch the fan on, I hear all kind of noised,
like the fan itself is whirling debris.
I know this has been discussed before, but... which is the best
way to remove all this stuff from the eater? And again: once I
cleaned it up, how to prevent it from gathering all that grabage
again?
Mind this car has _NO_ A/C.

Ciao
Luca
