As any absent minded kid can tell you, batteries only explode for two
reasons

1) you are overcharging them with too many amps
2) you are charging them with no ventilation for the cells

We use to charge batteries with industrial charges. About the second time of
charging "no service" batteries and having them explode you figure this out.
The idea with no vent batteries is that you never charge them with enough
amperage to cook them.

If all this is true then the only reason to worry is if your altenator goes
awry and over amps your battery.
