Richard Welty writes "it would please me no end if everybody simply stopped
replying to this thread." I would prefer a stage further: that nobody started
the first reply. Many replies to such threads are reasonable, even sometimes
interesting, and the initial posts could be reasonable, perhaps even sometimes
interesting, but Richard's earlier post ("way off topic. send it to offtopic
or don't send it at all") was extremely reasonable and should apply equally to
the initial fruitcake and to the subsequent frosting, however delicious and/or
nutritious either or both may be.
