The design of those hinges is truly ridiculous. When John Hertzman argues
that the quality of Alfa sedans was superior to that of the more stylish
spiders and coupes, this is the kind of detail he's referring to.

The hinge is nothing more than three blocks of rubber, each about 2 cm long
and 1 cm wide. One side of each rubber block fits into the forward edge of
the stainless channel attached to the glass, and the other side is stuffed
into a small sheet metal cap with a screw hole in it. When the window is
in place, these caps are attached to the b-pillar with screws. Your window
probably fell out because the rubber deteriorated, and it's likely that the
caps are still inside the channel on the b pillar. Pull back the rubber
seal for the door and you should be able to find the holes for the screws
that hold them in place.

I've replaced several sets of these using NOS parts that I aquired years
ago. You may still be able to get new rubber hinges through places like
Re-Originals, Highwoods (my favorite) or Rainer Hurtienne, however.

Have fun,
Dana Loomis
