Peter,

Your comments about input shaft bearing failure may be relevant to my problem
which is vibration via the gear shift in 5th above about 1500 rpm. All the
earlier comments on the Digest cite vibration in 2nd, 3rd or 4th as the
symptom, but none in 5th. The shift linkage appears in good order and feels
fine.

Could it be the outer bearing on the input shaft and is this accessible via
the end plate?
