Re: GTV-6 stuff...
EXTREMELY Brief (and rounded) history of one GTV6:
'83 GTV6 bought new for ~$16k; daily driver; 396,783 (s)miles at the moment.
@ ~350,000 miles/~16 years had spent ~$50k plus fuel & consumables - tires, batteries,
misc. fluids, etc. (oil changes included in big $) or about $0.14 per mile plus fuel;
$0.19 if the initial cost of the car is included at that particular moment. Not
included, tax, title, insurance, collision repairs.
Drive 20k miles a year and a checkbook mechanic can expect to average ~$2,800 annually
in maintenance; 30k, ~$4,200.
Is it worth it?
For me, YES! It must be, since I'm still throwin' money at it, with more vanishing $ is
loomin' on the horizon. But what other car can deliver like the GTV6 for $0.19 a
(s)mile plus fuel? One other data point: longterm fuel mileage average ~24mpg.
Not everythin' has been replaced yet... :-)
