Hi Erik:

New water pumps sometimes aren't properly cast, and have been known to leak 
a fair amount of oil.  I'd at least consider that as a possibility.  I'm 
not actually sure that a bad front crank seal would leak as much as you've 
described.  That seal isn't exposed to a directly pressurized oil source, 
but the water pump is.  Good luck.
