Wow, that is one hot sparkplug. I found some NGK BP6ES at the Napa Store. I
used to run the N7Y in my 1750 injected. I tried the N9Y and it was to hot

they run. If they look to cold I will pop up a heat range and see how it
goes. Don't want to burn valves. If your running fat jets the N9Y would be
perfect.

Your reply got me thinking and I made a few checks. I had a very old note in my first Alfa's auto log: N6Y = 1600, N7YC = 1750, N4YC = 2000. I think I recorded it from a Champion application manual.

My carbed berlina has Webers (F16 emulsion, 130 main w/220 air), 11mm 300 degree intake and euro 10548 exhaust cam; marelli plex ignition. But I also checked and have the RN9YCs in my spica injected GTV that runs the euro cams, and spica injected spider with 1750 cams, both with marelli plex ignition. Never had a problem that I'm aware of. I believe the N9Y is the plug recommended for the later Bosch injected spiders, but may have made an assumption about the electronic ignition being the driver for the plugs.

SO what damage might this be doing? What symptoms would 'too hot' produce? What do you mean by "shut down on a hard run"?
