RE: non-British Mini

About the only element of the MINI that's British is Mini imagery. Oh, and
apparently, the handling is fantastic. Then why is it every time some tosser
pseudo-BMW owner flies up behind me in my Mini (plain-Jane 998) and
tailgates me, as soon as we hit a roundabout, they end up 10 car lengths
behind me?

The new MINI is a BMW. The engine is the 1600 Neon engine, made in Brasil.
The car is as wide mirror to mirror as the new Beetle. Even the MINI Cooper
has a tenuous link to the past. John Cooper was still alive when the new
MINI was being developed and Cooper apparently had input to the design and
engineering. John Cooper, alas, died since then.

I wonder what would happen if BMW bought the Giulia name?

<shudder>

I suppose we'd all have to shut down our Alfa Romeo Giulia websites,
business, clubs etc., or face the wrath of the BMW lawyers.
