Spider Seat Belts

If 1981 Spiders came with 3 point belts, I'd have to
say that it was either 1980 or 1981 when they first
showed up since my 1979 Spider has lap belts.  My
question is this: how did Alfa Romeo continue to bring
in cars for so long without 3 point belts?  My 74 GTV
had 'em.  What gives?
