Actually, chemical gasket removers like those made by Permatex work
wonderfully and quickly. This in conjunction with the latest gasket scrapers
made with replaceable razor blade working edges will work wonders. The
surface should look like new when you are done.

These are the things that pros have used (literally) for decades. Ask me how
I know!
