Re: alfa-digest V8 #1189

This doesn't sound like either a drive shaft imbalance thing (these tend to occur at one particular rpm band, usually, just above idle) nor would I think that a bad tranny mount could cause this. If this problem worsens with mounting RPMs, then I suspect that something attached to the engine (like a heat shield or other piece of metal) is loose and vibrating,

Subject: Alfetta Sedan Project - Drive shaft vibration

The resuscitation of my 79 Alfetta sedan plucked for storage in a southern Michigan garage continues.

The good part - She's running better and better. Replaced the TA which helped a lot and completed the first steps in the SPICA tune-up procedure from AROO.

The question. There is a pronounced vibration/buzz when you spool up the engine like a thousand angry bees that get more angry with RPMs. I have confirmed that I have a bad passenger side transmission mount - not replaced yet. Could this be the problem. Hard to believe this mega buzz is normal for the car. I've tried the hose clamp approach to balancing the shaft as mentioned in Pat Braden's ' Bible.

Any other ideas or wisdom from you fellow Alfetta owners?

Thanks,

Don
