10:1 pistons

Subject: 10:1 pistons
>anyone have a photo of the spider motronic piston?
We will tomorrow, Norm. I'll reshoot mine with better light.

While we're on the subject.. I had a few questions about 'em.
Are they a "drop in" on earlier year cars? (I.E my 77?)

Yes

Anyone in So CA (and our MBTE laden 91 octane premium), install these?

I'm in Portland, but yes. Several of us have installed them.

Preferably on an older Spica injection car?

Yes.

How's the situation with knocking? How was passing the smog?

When the rings seated, compression improved enough to cause a ping at the advance I was running. I backed it off a little, the ping returned (when, perhaps, another cylinder's rings seated) and I backed timing off another couple of degrees. Since then, no problem. '72s don't have to pass smog in Oregon.

I'm tempted, and know it will perk things up a nice bit, but am in
part rebuilding
my engine so I CAN pass smog.. so wouldn't want to screw up my chances..

The Motronic pistons are *supposed* to provide more power with less emissions, as one might expect from the last pistons the factory fitted to our beloved 2L engines. From all I can tell after 13,000 miles on mine, they work.
