Ford / Jaguar

>>Now Ford has fixed the
reliability problems, and stuck a lot of Ford parts into the Jag, but
the prestige doesn't seem to be suffering any. Except maybe amongst the
purists, but who cares about them, Jag is selling more cars to the
unwashed nowadays and that's all that matters.<<

For now. Give it 20 years and the odd recession and a Jaguar will
be as prestigeuos a badge as a Ghia badge, stuck on just about
every tarted up european Ford econobox

It does take years to destroy a brand totally

Fiat got close to doing it with Alfa. Seems the 156 and GTV / Spider
are different enough from the Fiat base to do well. OK, they are fwd
which for some people is a problem. For most buyers if cars in
this market it is irrelevant, even if those buyers knew what
fwd, rwd or 4wd meant.

All the best
