Heat,   try heat.  But not too much.  Use a propane torch to heat around the
perimeter,  squirt liquid wrench or such in as the cap cools.  Should come
off with standard adjustable plyers.  Also try tapping the cap out by
wedging a screwdriver or small chisel (blunt).  Repeat cycle if not
successful first time.
