WINTER

I have a '84 Spider, live here in New Jersey, winters don't go below
20 degrees very often......I park the car outdoors, and was wondering if I
could switch to 5W-30 oil in the winter...once of my friends said it is O.K.,
although when I bought the car in 1984 the owner's manual did not call for
it....however, engine oils have improved considerably since then. My frined
also recommended buying a heated oildipstick, or even a heater for the water,
and hooking it up to a timer.
I have had the compression increased by having the engine head milled,
and a higher performance camshaft put in, and headers. So the engine might
be harder to start in winter. Battery usually doesn't last through more than
two winters.
I would appreciate any adivce anyone might have.
       Thanks.
