Bay Area project GTV for sale (longish)

A friend talked me into buying his rear-ended 73 GTV, which I had planned to
part out. But the more I look at it, the more I hate to put it off the road
if someone could fix it. In brief, it was a very nice yellow/black 2000
GTV, painted and de-rusted in 1999, good interior, that got hit hard in the
right rear while parked in June 2000. My friend got his insurance money and
bought a replacement Berlina. He couldn't face fixing it, or even looking at
it, so he talked me into buying it. It is driveable, but the rear is pretty
messed up. Several people have said it's fixable, but I can't to do it
myself, and it would be expensive. I'm not exactly sure what to do, but at
this point I'm seeing if anyone is interested in such a car. Here are its
good and bad points:

Good:
* Non-rusty body perfect from rear wheelwells forward, including doors and
hood; doors open and close
* Generally good black seats; a couple tears in driver's seat; good
headliner
* Perfect dash with no radio hole; good console and switches
* Perfect wood wheel
* Perfect reupholstered black door panels, no speaker holes
* Perfect glass, gaskets, shiny trim (including front windshield gasket)
* Very good front bumper and grille
* Excellent brakes
* Excellent LSD 4.5 rear axle
* Marelliplex ignition
* Exhaust
* Fuel delivery pump and gas tank
* Steering and front Konis
* Brand new red rear springs and bushings
* Driveshaft and donuts seem good
* 1973 MY car so no smog needed in CA

Bad/Missing
* Pretty creamed in the right rear fender, rear panel, trunk lid, trunk
floor, rear bumper
* Carpets poor
* Couple tears in driver's seat
* Didn't come with a battery
* Didn't come with wheels, though it has temp. wheels on it now

It drives and it's registered. It has a good engine and trans in it now,
but I plan to keep those myself and substitute a functionally identical
engine and trans from a 72 Berlina I have in my garage. That engine showed
good oil pressure and compression, but I haven't actually run it. If
someone is interested in the car, I'll entertain whatever combo might work,
but prefer to sell it as a roller or with the Berlina engine and trans,
either installed or not. This could be a good car if you could fix the rear
end economically, for a track/race car basis, or a shell to put together
with a good rear clip or a front-ended car. It has too much going for it to
part out without first seeing if someone wants the whole thing. If no one
is interested in the whole car, I probably will part it, but only as a last
resort.

The car is in Berkeley, CA. I have a few pics I can email if you're
interested. It's one of those cars that's worth a lot more for parts than
as a whole car, but I can't face parting it yet. I'm thinking in the range
of $600 with the Berlina engine and trans, but will work out whatever makes
sense. Come see it at my Saturday, Sept. 21 BBQ, or sooner. Let me know if
you're interested. Thanks
