164 Q (or S) shock absorbers

Hi!
     Has anyone replaced the shock absorbers on a 164 Q with
     electric valving with "normal" shocks?

     The auto setting was usually too bouncy, so i've usually
     had the electric system set on "sport", which
     ignores all the fancy electronics anyway.

     The original shocks on the car still work OK, but are
     getting more & more annoying with creaky, snappy sounds
     especially when extended & mor weight in the car.

     Can i replace them with the same type as on a 164L?
     maybe a 164 LS ?
