'76 Alfetta GT

Tim is thinking of buying an Alfetta GT and converting it to a V6. Tony
Sims advice in #1066 is Very Good advice. He lists a number of items
which will need to be replaced. I'll include to the list, complete Bosch
fuel system, black box, wiring loom, front brakes, complete driveshaft,
shifter / arm to transaxle, and transaxle. You'll end up with a shell
and be out thousands of dollars and hundreds if not thousands of hours.

Personally I've thought of going the opposite direction - that is, if I
had the money. Get a nice GTV6 with a bad engine, and convert it to a
Twin Spark (or bring one already converted over from Europe or Australia
/ NZ). If one bought an 85 or later, you'd get great seats, but with
any GTV6 there would be power mirrors and windows, better front brakes,
better driveshaft (if it could be retrofitted to a TS). + you could then
retrofit a GT's hood and do away with the tea tray. I'd also strip off
all the plastic which is strippable. Don't believe the air vent ahead of
the windshield has anything under the plastic so would paint body color.
Other's will disagree, but believe you're stuck with the bumpers since
you have large holes in the body if you remove them. On the bright side,
they're lighter than the Alfetta's since they have aluminum inside
rather than rust prone steel.

But I digress,
