Lube Clutch Pivot Arm?

Does anyone know what type of grease one is supposed to lube the clutch
pivot arm on a 70's Spider. What was under the little rubber boot inside
the bell housing looked like rusty chewing gum. Also do you need to
grease the throwout bearing where it slides on the steel tube?
