Re: POR-15
POR-15 is pretty neat stuff. It brushes on easily and coats like
nothing I've ever seen. A small can will go a long way. I buy the
six pack of small cans. That way I don't have to worry about wasting
any.
It's best to apply to a rough surface. It needs some "tooth" to grab
onto. On virgin metal, it can be peeled off. I generally sandblast
the rust off parts I'm coating which leaves a perfect finish for the
POR-15 to stick to.
Oh yeah, it sticks to fabric, hair, and skin like nothing else. Wear
disposable gloves, use disposable brushes, and buy some of their solvent
for clean-up. If you let it dry on your skin, you'll have to just wear
it off. I don't know how, but even when I'm careful I get the damn
stuff everywhere.
I've also had very good luck with their POR-20 high temp paint. A
little will go a very, very long way with this paint. I wish all
paints covered as well as this stuff does. After some rust clean-up I
used it to protect my rear calipers, starter heat shield, center
muffler, etc. The only problem I had with it, was that it disagreed
with the thin black paint that came on my CSC headers.

Anyone care to give me the scoop on this POR stuff? I'm considering
getting some, and was wondering what I need to be aware of. Application
procedures? Shelf life? Etc. Thanks.
