What is proper spark plug gap with electronic ignition?
While replacing the water pump on the grey berlina, I've decided to do a
bit of maintenance including new spark plugs. I had a set of Champion
RN9YC on the shelf, and out of the box their gap is approximately
.030. Several of my old reference materials specify a plug gap of .025 for
4 cyl alfas.
However, I seem to recall that if the car has an electronic ignition (like
the Marelli Plex I use) then the spark plug gap should be larger, like .030.
Question: should there be a larger gap for electronic ignitions versus the
stock conventional point type ignition? What is it? Does it really matter?
Thanks, //kct
