OK, this kit is probably a bit of a joke, but it prompts a question that I've
wanted to ask for a while -- why wouldn't an electric fan work to pressurize
the intake charge?  There are some pretty powerful electric motors out there,
especially DC motors.  Given all the computer control of engines, drive by
wire, etc., seems like it would be possible to create an electric "turbo" that
could be controlled to provide just the right amount of boost for throttle
position, have multiple "maps" for economy or performance, could be set up to
eliminate any noticeable "lag", and be infinitely adjustable from the driver's
seat.  I seem to recall a lot of car companies are considering "high voltage"
electrical systems (42 v?  48 v?) for the future, so there's even more power
to drive the fan.

Engineering types, care to weigh in?
