I just changed liners and pistons. Hear my cry...

That was a bear!

It can be done in the car but the hardest part of the
job is removing the two-piece oil sump. The actual
liner, piston, connecting rod re-assembly was
comparatively easy.

Sliding those new liners in was gratifyingly sexual!

This was on a '85 Spider Graduate with a/c. Many hidden
fasteners around oil sump. Including one cleverly
buried behind the right engine mount and two WITHIN the
a/c mounting bracket! Oil pump must be removed before
you can withdraw the sump. I even had to raise the rear
of the engine slightly with a floor jack to get the rear
of the oil sump to clear the crankshaft bolts so I could
slide it forward to clear the subframe.

I could do it again in about 1/3 of the time. Not that
I'm bragging, it's just that it took me THAT long to
finish it.

But man do those new pistons and liners look good! Now
if it will just start after I put the head back on...
