Road trip this Saturday (NAC) Skip it if you don't like motorcycles or road trips ;-)

Fellow digesters who may find interest in motorcycles; this is something
I posted to the PNW Ducati list & thought I would share it with you.

Hey folks, I'm heading out Saturday morning for a ride, anyone wanna tag
along? On the agenda: Eastern Oregon (visit my good friends at
www.casagofastica.com), northern Califoria, Nevada, Utah, possibly
Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, & Idaho.

Some places I'm looking forward to are the northern California coast/Hwy
96 area, the Sierras/Lake Tahoe, Nevadadesertwasteland, Bear Tooth Pass,
Glacier national park, & Lolo Pass.

I'm taking a dozen rolls of film (film? what the heck is that??) & will
be camping the entire trip. Well, if I get really grimy I'll spring for
a cheap motel I suppose. I don't have to be back to work until August
8th & will probably be on the road every day. That's most of the fun
for me.

I spent several hours packing & repacking the bike last night to see
what works & what does not. Ask myself if I really need certain things
or not. Which critical tools to bring, etc. While doing this, I was
nailed point blank in the forehead by one of those stupid ass plastic
bungee net hooks that always break. Felt like I got hit in the head by
a ball peen hammer. Into the trash goes the bungee net! Good riddance.

I know it's going to be roasting many places I go, so I'm planning on
sporting my 2L Camel Bak. Talked to an employee at REI last night who
turned out to be a Bandit 600 rider. He just went on a trip to SoCal &
said the Camel Bak made a world of difference. Makes sense, keeps you
hyrdrated & you don't need to stop. Haven't used it on the bike yet so
this will be its first test. Beta?

Anyway, just wanted to let you all know I'll be out there looking for as
many twisties & mountain passes I can find. My baggage includes a
Tourmaster tankbag & tailpack, and RKA soft bags. Everything fits
inside the luggage & under the seat except for my tent, which I'll just
bungee cord to the back of the tail pack as I've done in the past.

Ciao,

Zach
