Sounds like faulty master cylinder seals.  Not a difficult job once you have the cylinder
out, just need a loooong 6mm allen key wrench to reach behind the pedal box assembly to
release the MC bolts.  Also replace the slave cylinder seals and the flexible hose at the
slave cylinder end.  Seems a pity to do only half a job while you have the brake fluid
out!
