Don't be so sure that your mounts are not bad (again).  My 87 Spider got new 
mounts in 95 when I bought it.  In 1997, with less than 10k additional, the 
fanblades went kah-blooey.  Fortunately no body damage, but I replaced the 
mounts again as well as the shroud and had no further problem.  
And by the way, that plastic gets brittle even up here in the cool environs 
of the great Pacific Northwest.  
Good luck with your repair.
I think the electric fan is the way to go, especially if you plan to hold 
onto the car for a while.
