You probably already realise that the rubber mounts are attached via the
rear side of the inlet manifold, making removing the manifold a neccessity.
The easiest way to remove the manifold is to remove the carbs first with the
manifold still attached to the engine, as this allows unrestricted access to
the manifold nuts. Removing the carbs on the 105's isn't as diffucult as it
looks- the key to reaching the underside nuts is to use the right
combination of socket/extension/flexjoint, or alternatively if your arms are
small enough you can reach in from the front of the engine.

The carb support rod should be on every twin-carb Alfa straight-4 engine. If
it is missing from your car, than this would be the primary reason your carb
mounts have failed.

I am certain I have a spare rod sitting in my storeroom in my alfa parts
