There is an alternative to more R-12 or converting to R-134a. An 80%
mixture of propane and 20% iso-butane is a direct replacement for R-12.
It's actually even a bit better (colder) than R-12. It's approved
for stationary uses, but was outlawed for use in passenger vehicles...
one might argue that it was largely outlawed at Dupont's request (the
maker of R-134a) as the propane/iso-butane mixture is used in passenger
vehicles Europe and Austrailia with great success.
Is it possible to get this stuff pre-mixed and ready to go into my
AC system?
