Re: Difficulty reaching oil filter on Milano?

I noticed a number of people posted how it was necessary to remove the
airbox to get at the oil filter on the 75/Milano. I changed the oil and

filter off and put the new one on by hand. Am I some kind of monkey or
something or is this an X-file?
It all depends on who tightened the previous oil filter. Some people think it must hold the engine in the car or something and really torque down on it. I don't have the torque specs for an Alfa oil filter handly, but I'll bet it's not more than 20ft/lbs. Since the filter is so large in diameter it shouldn't be hard to reach that figure by hand. I really like the oil filters with the rough coating on the outside that make this even easier.

My first oil change on my (new to me) Milano was an absolute bear. Even with the air filter removed I couldn't get enough bite with my filter wrench to get it loose. I finally got it off by using a C-clamp to crush a flat spot into it, and used a big-ass pair of channel locks. Probably some guy at Jiffy-lube using an impact wrench to install it or something.
