AC

You can convert from R-12 to R-134a rather easily... You'll still need to go to an AC shop to have them recover any remaining R-12, and you should pull a vacuum on the system to remove any moisture. It's really important to get any moisture out as the oils (PAG or POE) used in R-134a won't help prevent corrosion like the R-12 mineral oils.

The other bad news is that you'll only get about 80-90% of the cooling from your system compared to R-12.

You may want to try a R-12 replacement... www.autofrost.com

The only problem, is it's not DIY, you need to be EPA SNAP approved to buy/install it (even though it's ozone safe.)
