Paint job
Simon, I had Maaco do my 84 Spider 3 1/2 yrs ago with their top of the line
polyurethane. They did it all and it still looks like it just rolled out of
the paint shop. The cost was $600 (well worth it) and they changed it from
putrid turquoise to pretty close to Alfa red.

After the fender re-alignment on my 91 Spider by a non-Alfa driver, I
started looking at getting the whole car painted. Prices quoted were about
$3500, something I cannot afford to invest. The local Maaco has better than
average recommendations by a couple of local Alfa people and the guy seemed
knowledgeable except for one point. He wanted to paint over the clear coat
on the bumpers which has small areas of peel. The paint underneath is
adhering well.
I thinking of taking off the bumpers and stripping the clear coat off
myself, then getting him to do the rest. Should I? What should I strip it
with?
Advice welcome.
Thank you
Simon Body
