Anyone have info on getting a good, local buyer's check on an Alfa for sale?

Hey all,

I'm looking to get a buyer's check on a couple of late model Alfa Spider's, one near San Francisco and one near Riverside CA, before I decide to fly into the state and check them out in person.   Anybody know someone or have an idea how to contact a good person to do this?  

Also, is it reasonable to get some sort of written representation from a buyers check, stipulating the condition of the car?
