164LS shredding serpentine belts

Hey Gang,

My 94 164LS has shredded it's second serpentine belt
this year.  While the first one broke completely, this
one has just started to go.  Since it's still hanging
on (barely) I can see that it's worn on the inside
edge, closest to the engine.  I assume it's rubbing on
something, but don't know what just yet.  I did notice
a bolt head for the cam belt cover that sits very
close to the belt... that's the first suspect.  I also
have a very noisy power steering pump, but can't
imagine that would shred a belt.

Any suggestions or past experiences welcome.  A 90
mile flatbed tow from Tracy to Richmond was not my
idea of a fun end to the weekend, and one I don't care
to repeat.
